About the Role

As a Class 5 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight while maintaining compliance with New Zealand transport legislation, company procedures, and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Operating Class 5 heavy combination vehicles safely and efficiently

• Conducting pre-start and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Loading, securing, and transporting freight in accordance with NZTA requirements

• Completing delivery documentation and electronic logbook entries accurately

• Managing fatigue and work time obligations in compliance with New Zealand regulations

• Maintaining professional communication with dispatch, customers, and site personnel

• Ensuring vehicles are kept clean and roadworthy

• Reporting hazards, incidents, defects, and maintenance requirements promptly

What We're Looking For To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Full New Zealand Class 5 Driver Licence

• Sound knowledge of NZTA Work Time and Logbook requirements

• Understanding of NZTA Heavy Vehicle Road User and Transport Compliance obligations

• Experience operating truck and trailer, B-train, semi-trailer, or heavy combination vehicles

• Strong understanding of load restraint and freight security practices

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening

• Good level of physical fitness and ability to assist with loading and unloading when required

• Reliable transport and strong work ethic

• Excellent communication skills and commitment to customer service

Highly Regarded

• Dangerous Goods (DG) Endorsement

• Forklift Licence (F Endorsement)

• Wheels, Tracks and Rollers (WTR) Endorsements

• Container, linehaul, refrigerated freight, or bulk haulage experience

• Civil construction or infrastructure transport experience
